In honour of Mothers day and all Mothers around the world but especially mine I thought I would do a post about my Mother's greatest achievement to date (other than having me).

Before we start, I want to pay a little tribute to the Mother of all Mother's. My instagram Muse, My Mum. If you follow me you will constantly be bombarded with videos of her making me absolutely die with laughter. She is slowly coming to terms with being on the 'World Wide Web' as she calls it and agreed to me taking some photos of her for this post. Everyone thinks they have the best Mum in the world and truly they do but here's why to me, my mum is the frontline winner. She has the perfect balance of not giving a damn but also genuine kindness. She welcomes anyone and everyone into our home and would happily set you a place at the table and read your tarot cards. She wears whatever she wants and always has, sometimes she reaaaaally stood out in the school playground but because of this it's given me and my siblings full freedom to wear whatever and be whoever we want. In primary school I was the only girl that had bright blue and orange shoes, at the time mortifying, now legendary.
I claim to be the best bargain hunter in all the land, but really that's a lie because everything I know I learnt from her. As a teen it was painful being dragged round charity shops because what I wanted wasn't right in front of me and I was a part of that NEED IT NOW culture. Slowly I learnt the tricks of the trade and I prefer charity shopping to anything else now. My mum does have a strict rule to follow, which she is going to crucify me for sharing BUT it has come up a couple of times. Check the armpits, I know it sounds vulgar but I have picked up stuff before and checked the armpits and they had a certain 'edge' so put it back.

Right, so now down to the point. The coat. She came home the other day and whispered in my ear she had brought a Christian Dior coat and ran upstairs. My stomach fell out my bum as I thought she had bankrupted my Dad. When I got upstairs she was prancing round in this gorgeous long black coat with a huge smile on her face and let me try it on. It was a Christian Dior, I thought she was messing with me. She had found it in the Salvation Army in Northampton town centre, why an earth someone would get rid of this coat is beyond me but i'm guessing they weren't sure of it's value. If you ask my mum how much this cost she will say £25.00 and laugh, i'm telling you now thats a lie. It cost her £65.00, which for a coat anyway from a high street shop is pretty standard but for a Christian Dior that's crazy. We have googled the label and think it was made in the 1980's and it's 100% cashmere. To say she is thrilled is an understatement, to say i'm pissed because it wasn't me who found it, is also an understatement.

I Hope you have all had a lovely mothering Sunday and next time your charity shopping check those armpits - and labels.
